I would just like to start out by saying a huge thank you to everyone for contributing to our Winter Party! Coming from a school with not as much parent involvement I was blown away by the amount of people who came and helped out at our party. It was so much fun for me to see everyone interacting and having a great time together. I know it meant the world to all the kids too! If you were not able to make it, no worries, I know you will all have a wonderful time celebrating over the break.
We are ending second quarter with a bang! We finished our math NWEA benchmark test on Monday, and again these kids made HUGE growth! I am so excited about how far they have come, and we are only halfway through the year! We have a smart group of kids on our hands! Please enjoy your winter break! School will be back in session January 5th, 2015. Below are lots of pictures from our holiday party! Enjoy and Happy Holidays! :) -Miss Turco

Hello All!
One more week until Winter Break! I can't believe how quickly this year is going by! Next week is going to be a very busy one! I am going to keep this post short and sweet and just list reminders so you know what to expect next week! *Walk to Read: We will only have Walk to Read Monday-Wednesday. On Wednesday we will be doing our Comprehension Test and Spelling Test. *NWEA: We have the second part of our NWEA math test on Monday. Please make sure your child is well rested and eats a healthy breakfast! *Winter Party: Our class winter party is Thursday 12/18! We will be making gingerbread houses and winter door hangers. You all are invited! If you would like to come help set up please come at 12. The party will be from 12:30-1:30. *Pajama Day: On Friday 12/19 will have pajama day! Send your child to school in comfortable, appropriate pajamas! Last I wanted to give a friendly reminder about jackets. It is absolutely okay to send your child to school with a jacket! I am having a lot of students come to school with multiple jackets or extra bulky jackets that end up laying across the room, or are being left various locations around the school. Make sure your child is coming to school with only one jacket, and it would be helpful if it could fit in their backpack so it doesn't get lost! Thank you for your help! Let me know if you have any questions or concerns! Check back next Friday for lots of pictures from the winter party! -Miss Turco :) Hello! I hope you all had a wonderful Thanksgiving break! I spent mine down in Tucson at my parents house. I had a great time with my family and rooted for ASU at the football game. Don't worry, I didn't let the ASU loss ruin my time off! It feels great to be back! we have a busy few weeks until our winter break, so be ready to rock and roll! I wanted to share a few cute pictures, one of us hard at work the day before break and my favorite class picture ever! I just love this one! We started our NWEA benchmark reading test this week. We will finish it on Monday so please make sure your child gets enough sleep on Sunday night! We will take the math portion next Wednesday and finish up the following Monday. Computer tests can be a little overwhelming for the students so please share words of encouragement the next two weeks. This week we had a blast doing math! We used geometry to cut adorable snowflakes for our winter board and did fun activities comparing numbers using less than, greater than, and equal to. Next Week
Reading: We started DIBELS testing this week and these kids are ROCKING it! I really think walk to read is going great! Next week our focus skill will be telling the main idea and details of a story. These are the key ideas that we are working to really develop and build off of as we continue: -composing and decomposing 2-digit numbers -comparing 2-digit numbers -expanded form -EVENTUALLY (not next week) we will be adding and subtracting two 2-digit numbers using place value Writing: We will be writing a narrative, "If I lived In a Snow Globe" We will really be focused on using adjectives in our writing!
