We survived our first week of first grade, and I think we had a pretty great time doing it! I am so excited to have such a sweet, and energetic group of first graders! It is going to be a fabulous year! This week we took time to learn classroom procedures, get to know one another, and start some first grade work! I sent a note home with information about Curriculum Night on this week. Curriculum Night will be Wednesday, August 19th from either 5:00-5:30 OR 5:30-6:00. We will be talking about "Walk to Read," (which will be starting on August 17th) writing using Thinking Maps, math curriculum, and first grade benchmark assessments. I will be going over important information so it would be great if you could be there! Please see the end of this post for our weekly schedule!
Next Week Reading: We will be close reading a new passage about school each day. The students will be answering text-dependent questions. Math: We will continue to practice counting and counting patterns 0-100. We will also talk about more and less. Writing: We will be working on our "Beginning of the Year Book" with a focus on handwriting and conventions.
